Martial Artist, Transportation Coordinator
Michael Hunt was a student in the first Kids Kicking Cancer class in 1999 at Children’s Hospital of Michigan. He is a 20+ year pediatric cancer survivor and holds a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Michael worked as a School Age Child Care Site Director/ Summer Program Director for the YMCA. Michael also works with The Chalfonte Foundation as a Board member and Director of Boys Camp, providing spiritual and psychosocial support for teenagers. Michael was a participant at this camp in his early years after being treated for cancer.
Michael has worked with Kids Kicking Cancer since 2005 and is currently a Martial Arts Therapist. He teaches classes and works with hospitalized children. His role includes training instructors local & globally, both in-person and with the use of an on-line platform. Michael also coordinates Kids Kicking Cancer’s transportation, transporting students to and from home to class/events. In November of 2019 Michael was awarded the Leadership Award representing Kids Kicking Cancer for Karmanos Cancer Institute 25th Annual Heroes of Cancer Awards.
